Industrial Laundry Facility

BT Squared helped a client redevelop a 12-acre urban brownfield property into a 125,000-square-foot industrial laundry facility in Chicago, Illinois. We compiled seven years of previous environmental data and conducted a detailed Phase 2 site assessment. We met a tight real estate closing schedule, negotiated scope revisions with the City of Chicago, and delivered the demolition and remediation project work on time and below budget.

Third-Party Vendor Environmental Audits

BT Squared conducted multi-media environmental compliance audits including air, water, and waste for vendor facilities throughout the U.S. and two facilities in Mexico. We rapidly mobilized a team to complete the audits and findings prior to corporate risk management meetings. The process involved thorough documentation during the site inspections and interviews, comparisons to state and federal regulations, and involved independent confirmation of local wastewater permit compliance and fire incidents.

Midwest Food Processor

A manufacturer in Beloit, Wisconsin, recently embarked on several energy efficiency and facility improvements. The facility wanted to harness waste heat from one of their production lines in order to heat and cool the entire facility. Although emissions were generally decreasing, the projects changed how and where pollutants were emitted. BT Squared's refined dispersion modeling satisfied the regulatory agency that all ambient air quality standards would be met. The air permit left room for the facility to grow in the future.

Advanced Concrete

Advanced Concrete operates two ready-mix concrete plants in Dane County, Wisconsin. When the company received notice that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) would be inspecting their Waunakee, Wisconsin, facility in less than three weeks, BT Squared conducted a compliance audit. The audit documents were completed just in time, the quick-turn USEPA inspection did not result in any violations or fines, and Advanced Concrete was assured that the facility met state and federal regulations. Advanced Concrete was so impressed that they hired BT Squared to complete similar work on another facility.

Columbus Chemical Industries, Inc.

Late on the night of May 11, 2009, BT Squared received a call that a fire had broken out at one of our client's plants - Columbus Chemical Industries, Inc. (CCI). Within two hours, BT Squared engineers were on site meeting with CCI managers, first responders, concerned citizens, and public officials. Thus began several months of emergency and remedial response work to stabilize the plant, address community concerns, and help keep CCI in business. CCI had done their homework. Using BT Squared's templates, CCI had prepared a comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plan two years prior to the fire. CCI employees kept copies of the plan available off site and used the plan to help prioritize their initial activities. CCI is not only still in business, but thriving in a new state-of-the-art facility with all-time record sales.
