MADISON, WI – The Goodman Community Center was selected as a Top Project in not one but two Design Competitions. On April 28th, BT Squared, along with Vogel Brothers Building Company and Eppstein Uhen Architects, was honored for their work on the Goodman Community Center, located in Madison, Wisconsin at the WisconsinBuilder and Capital Regional Business Journal annual 2008 Top Projects ceremony. The project was recognized for the amazing transformation of the 100-year old Kupfer Iron Works Building. The site had been contaminated with lead paint, asbestos, and polychlorinated biphenyls throughout the building. The site was contaminated as well from years of iron works and manufacturing. BT Squared worked with the construction team to coordinate a full remediation on the building elements while removing, relocating, and capping the contaminated soil. Much of the existing steel gantry was able to remain in place, lending a layer of history to the site that would have been devastating to lose.
On May 6, 2008, InBusiness Magazine held the second annual Commercial Design Awards. The Goodman Community Center was awarded the Winner in the Best New Development or Renovation – Education Category. BT Squared was recognized as a key engineering team member on the project.
